HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION (GRADES 7-12) FLEX-BLENDED LEARNING MODEL

Blended Learning is the pedagogical practice of using both online and in-person learning experiences when teaching students, in which the online and in-person experiences parallel, complement, and enhance one another. In Genesis Academy blended courses, students attend learning labs taught by a teacher in a traditional classroom setting, while also independently completing online components of the course both inside and outside of the classroom. Therefore, the primary mode of the delivery of course materials is done on our learning management systems Ignitia & Schoology. Through our online learning management system, students can access their course text and additional review materials 24/7 once an internet connection is available.

Our classroom’s offer state of the art technology such as integrated white boards, projectors, and cameras to facilitate distance learning. Additionally we have three fully equipped science, Steam, and Art laboratories. Our building is Wi-Fi enabled with fiber optic connection to ensure stable and fast upload and download speeds and the uninterrupted use of Web 2.0 and 3.0 tools. To prevent any disruption in learning, UPS systems and a generator are installed in the building. Genesis Academy is dedicated to providing the most engaging, challenging, relative, and global education available for all learners. Coupled with the integration of technology, we utilize project-based inquiry projects to provide authentic learning experiences for our students that requires them to utilize skills such a critical and creative thinking and collaboration. All of our courses are customized to meet the Ministry of Education’s Bahamas Junior Certificate (BJC) and Bahamas General Certificate of Education (BGCSE) curriculums.

Perhaps our most exciting development in the high school has been our partnership with the University of Northern Alabama. This partnership permits Genesis to offer a dual enrollment program and the opportunity for students to earn university credits prior to Graduating high school and expand their learning opportunities. We are committed to being a learning environment where we are consistently researching and implementing progressive teaching strategies and learning tools and resources.
